Hi friends,

Two Hong Kong-related events are happening in the next few days here in DC. Both are open to the public, and I’d love to see some of you there!

📅 Sept 4: Freeing China’s Political Prisoners
Hudson Institute | 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM
A discussion on the situation facing political prisoners across China, what the U.S. can do to advance their cause, and potential reforms to Washington’s political prisoner advocacy framework. Lunch is provided.

📅 Sept 10: CFHK’s 3rd Annual Hong Kong Symposium
Capitol Visitor Center | 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
This year’s symposium, “Repression and Resistance in Hong Kong: Global Implications and U.S. Policy Options”, will feature opening remarks from Members of Congress, expert panels, and the launch of a major new report on Hong Kong prison conditions that I helped author. We’ll cover threats to judicial independence and media, Hong Kong’s financial center status, and the future of democracy and human rights advocacy in the U.S. Breakfast and lunch are provided.
